The Miagi Orchestra is a South African orchestra dedicated to helping the nation overcome decades of violence, conflict and division through the power of music. Cellist Tsepo Kolitsoe Pooe-tic Pooe , and violinist Lize Schaap, grew up in very different circumstances but Miagi is bringing hundreds of young people like them from across the country together, and in the process breaking down misunderstandings, mistrust and prejudice.
The Miagi Orchestra’s mission is inspired by the work and legacy of Nelson Mandela, recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize in 1993.
