In the pre-Covid world of 2019 I got to work on a feature documentary about an extraordinary man who took on the US healthcare crisis - Stan Brock, the Englishman who ran away from his boarding school as a teenager to become a cowboy in Guyana; a desperately shy man who became a huge tv star almost by accident; a cynic who took up the cause of universal healthcare for all, formed the incredible charity Remote Area Medical and would go on to address a US senate committee led by Bernie Sanders; a man who believed for much of his life that he could only love animals, yet became a committed humanitarian; a loner who discovered a love for the human race later in life, and came to find his family amongst those in need in the United States.
